At the Department of Oncology, patient involvement focusses on involving the patient and relatives in the treatment. The aim is to create an environment where patients and relatives feel that they are seen, heard, understood and involved in decisions concerning their specific course of disease and life situation.
Through ongoing cross-professional collaboration, the department seeks to improve information for patients and relatives as well as to improve the communication between patients, relatives and staff. The need for rehabilitation is assessed by the patient, relatives and health professionals together and focusses on being able to return to everyday life post-treatment. Cancer patients’ need for rehabilitation is established initially, post-treatment, in connection with changes in treatment and during follow-up.
